Bengal is a former province of India on the Bay of Bengal. The Bay of Bengal is a large body of water that is part of the Indian Ocean. Bengal now belongs to two different countries. West Bengal is still a part of India, but East Bengal is a part of Pakistan. The whole of Bengal covers an area of about 84,000 square miles, about one-third the size of the state of Texas. There live more than 65,000,000 people, nine times more than in Texas.
It is a universally accepted fact of history that in many places the native people were converted to Islam by the Muslims by the force of the sword. But I must point out that most conversions in United Bengal (Bangladesh and West Bengal) were not by the sword, but by Muslim Sufi saints who exposed the inherent evils of Hinduism and Buddhism. The results were eye-opening as 65% of the Hindu-Buddhist population converted to Islam. It appears that the majority of Bengali-speaking Muslims is almost double that of Hindus.
